You might be wondering why you should bother to create an Instagram account for your business.
It’s so much work!
And if all you’re going to do is post pictures of your products and services, it seems like a lot of hassle and no real value.
But let me ask you: What if I told you that just by posting one photo per day on Instagram, you could grow your following from less than 100 to over 10,000 over the next three years?
With over 1 billion monthly active users as of August 2021 (350 million photos shared per day – source statista.com – source 2 socialbakers.com), it’s safe to say that Instagram isn’t going anywhere any time soon, and if you’re not currently marketing yourself on Instagram, you’re missing out on a huge portion of potential customers.
Here are 12 tips for getting more real Instagram followers in 2022!
1. Make Your Profile Look Appealing
Instagram is all about photos; we want to see what you have to offer!
If your profile page looks like this:
You’re losing people before they’ve even seen your posts 🙁
Your thumbnail image and profile picture need to be clear and show us what we can expect.
2. Create Great Content
Make sure that the content you post is on-brand and on-message with your overall marketing strategy.
If we’re following you for fitness advice, but see a picture of you sipping coffee at Starbucks, why would we follow you?

We might not even notice that it’s a great cup of coffee, because they didn’t make it clear from their profile image what kind of business they ran from the get-go.
3. Use Hashtags
Your hashtags should be searchable using popular keywords in your industry or target demographics’ interests.
This will help people discover your brand by searching through hashtags that are relevant to them!
No one is going to want to follow a full of random photos from users that they don’t even know.
4. Get Creative!
Instagram is a perfect platform for creating and sharing cool content in addition to your usual product/service photos.
You can create apps like the Gramblr Instagram app to make it easier for your fans to submit their own content and you can come up with contests and ideas to engage them (like when Business Insider tried giving away $2000).
Show that you’re having fun with your brand on social media, and people will want to join in on the fun!
5. Don’t Spam Your Followers
You’ll lose followers if you spam them instead of engaging them!
For example, spammers post hundreds of hashtags every day just so that they’re seen by more people.
These types of posts annoy and drive away real Instagram users who want to see original content, not random spam every time they open the app.
To avoid this:
– Don’t post more than 1-2 times per hour. –
Try to use your hashtags sparingly, don’t just add on as many as possible – ask yourself if it’s really necessary for that particular photo
6. You Need a Call-to-Action!
It’s important to encourage engagement with your posts in order to get comments and likes from your followers which will allow you to build connections with them over time!
Using a call-to-action can be a great way to do this by telling your followers what you want them to do.
7. Don’t Post Product Photos Every Day
If you post a photo of your product/service every day, people will get tired of seeing it and won’t want to follow you anymore!
Even if the photos are of great quality, they’ll start feeling spammy after a while.
Instead, try alternating with photos that show your personality and other content that relates to your target audience in order to keep them engaged and coming back for more.
8. Use Tools Like Repost, Gramblr, or InstaQuote
You can also use tools like Repost or Gramblr which help users repost their favorite images by giving them credit so there’s no need to screenshot an image and post it directly from Instagram because this can ruin the quality!
You can also add texts to your pictures with InstaQuote.
That way, you don’t need to write something under every photo and it looks less spammy.
9. Tag Influencers in Photos
When you include influencers in your photos, their followers will see that they’re affiliated with your brand and this could help drive more engagement and increase the chance that they follow you back because they trust them!
For example, when Waffle House tagged Tim Ferriss in one of their photos, he told his followers about his breakfast preferences which increased the company’s exposure through an influential figure:
10. Get Featured by Brands You Resemble
Brand collaborations are a great way to increase exposure for both parties because we’re familiar with the other brand and we know that they’re popular.
We can relate to them and want to be part of their community too!
If you collaborate with another brand that appeals to the same target demographic, both of your brands will get more exposure which means more followers for you in the long run!
11. Video Content is Important
Video content has been shown to attract higher engagement rates than images, so it’s important to create short, high-quality videos once in a while if you want more people following you (and obviously watching your other posts).
You can use apps like Boomerang or Hyperlapse to take 15-second videos that loop over and over again creating an interesting effect.
12. Don’t Buy Followers
Buying Instagram followers will not benefit you.
In fact, it will hurt your account in the long run because when you get caught, all of those followers will be deleted and you’ll lose trust with your real followers too.
If you’re looking for quick growth, try doing things like reposting images that are popular among people who would relate to your brand (you can find them by using hashtags or liking other images in your target audience), working on building up a great personal account first before branching out into third-party accounts and remember to engage with users instead of just spamming them with random hashtags!
